Kansai Gallery Map

Founded in 1958. In 1973 Galerie Miyawaki launched its present building on Teramachi-Nijo, a street of art and antiques, located near the center of Kyoto. Its ground floor with a large glass window gives much openness to this unique gallery which is continuing to upper floors by the spiral staircase. In this atmosphere of charming quaintness and certain dignity of the space we are vigorously hosting a succession of unique exhibitions of contemporary artworks. Originally highly inclined to Surrealism art and especially value the mental strength of the artists whose foundation for creativity is the desire for “living”. So, including important established names, the lineup of the artists here are rich in diversity of nationality, age, career and medium. Also we are quite actively discovering and introducing self-taught, solitary and as-yet-unrecognized artists from around the world.
